Job description

ACETECH is seeking an experienced Field Applications Engineering Manager to lead our global Field Applications function from our headquarters in Ireland. This senior management role carries full global accountability across Middle East, Europe, UK, and North America, building a high-performing team that positions ACETECH as a trusted technical partner to builders, OEMs, and strategic customers.

The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement
  • Develop and drive the global customer engagement strategy in line with commercial objectives.
  • Support key customer, builder, and OEM relationships for strategic projects across all regions.
  • Contribute to ACETECH’s position as a knowledgeable, trusted technical partner globally.
  • Support early-stage engagement to influence project specifications and solution design.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the global Field Applications Engineering team.
  • Manage Senior Field Applications Engineers where in place, and IC1/IC2 engineers directly in regions without a dedicated Senior FAE or Team Lead.
  • Establish consistent engagement methodologies, technical practices, and customer-facing standards applied identically across regions.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best‑practice adoption, supporting succession planning as regions build out their own dedicated teams.
  • Own the vehicle commissioning quality framework globally, ensuring standards, sign‑off procedures, and quality gates are documented and consistently applied.
Technical and Operational Oversight
  • Co‑ordinate field application activities across multiple regions and projects.
  • Ensure effective allocation of engineering resources globally, including budget ownership for the Field Applications function.
  • Monitor project execution to ensure adherence to technical standards and delivery expectations.
  • Escalate and resolve technical or operational risks as required.
Capability Assessment and Customer Enablement
  • Help establish frameworks to assess builder and OEM technical capabilities.
  • Drive initiatives that improve customer self‑sufficiency and technical maturity.
  • Identify recurring capability gaps and develop improvement programmes, training, and support strategies.
Professional Services Revenue Development
  • Support the development and delivery of professional services, managed services, and pre‑configured solution offerings.
  • Work with Technical and Commercial leadership to identify and develop revenue‑generating services.
  • Ensure service offerings are scalable, repeatable, and commercially viable.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate closely with the Technical Director on standards and technical governance.
  • Work as a peer with the Field Applications Quality Representative on quality metrics and continuous improvement, preserving the independence of quality governance.
  • Align commercial commitments with technical delivery capabilities across all regions and collaborate with Customer Success and regional support functions.
  • Monitor project outcomes, customer feedback and team performance, driving initiatives that improve first‑release success and reduce rework.
  • Lead lessons‑learned reviews and the implementation of corrective actions, supporting development of standardised processes, templates, and methodologies.
Experience and Background
Essential
  • 8–12 years’ experience in technical consulting, applications engineering, systems integration, or related disciplines.
  • Substantial leadership experience managing technical teams, including through supervisory or team‑lead tiers.
  • Strong customer‑facing and stakeholder management skills with builders, OEMs, integrators, or industrial customers.
  • Proven project management and resource planning capability across multiple concurrent projects or regions.
  • Demonstrable departmental budget or P&L ownership experience.
  • Ability to balance commercial objectives with technical nuances.
Desirable
  • Prior experience managing a globally distributed team across multiple regions or time zones.
  • Experience developing professional or managed services revenue streams.
  • Experience in emergency services, public safety, or blue‑light vehicle sectors.
Qualifications and Certifications
Essential
  • Degree at Level 7 or above on Ireland’s National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), or an internationally recognised equivalent, in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience at management level.
  • Full, clean driving licence and valid passport for frequent international travel.
Desirable
  • Formal management qualification such as ILM, CIPD, or an MBA module.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) or a recognised leadership/management certification.
Communication and Working Style

This role operates at executive level externally and internally. You will:

  • Represent ACETECH’s technical partnership capability to senior builder and OEM stakeholders across all regions.
  • Report to the Director of Technical Partnerships and collaborate closely with Technical and Commercial Directors, and with the Field Applications Quality Representative as a peer.
  • Communicate clearly and credibly with C‑Suite audiences and global customer stakeholders.

English is required; additional languages are highly desirable given the global scope.

The person who succeeds in this role is comfortable leading a globally distributed team from an Ireland base, and is able to build strong working relationships with colleagues they rarely see in person. They are energised by growing the function from a single global team into distinct regional structures over time, and they balance commercial and technical priorities using data and clear, evidence‑based communication.
