Liberty Information Technology Limited is seeking a data/software engineer to join our Liberty IT team in Ireland. You’ll work with Python, SQL and AWS to build data foundations powering pricing and modelling decisions and collaborate across data engineering, MLOps and software engineering disciplines.

The role emphasizes modern cloud data engineering, learning from experienced engineers and growing data products in a supportive environment. A hybrid in-office/remote setup applies.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering software using Python, SQL and AWS.
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or STEM with 1 year post-graduate software development experience, or 3 years in industry.
• Experience in agile software delivery (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in technical communication with peers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Write clean code in line with the team’s set standards.
• Own, scope and deliver well defined tasks or stories and communicate progress.
• Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical teams to maximise customer value.
• Contribute to code quality with automated, unit and integration tests; apply security practices.
• Participate in deployment and CI/CD pipelines; review pull requests.

Who you’ll be working with:

Join a team where software engineering, MLOps and data engineering come together to solve complex business challenges at scale. This role is designed to give you meaningful opportunities to grow your data engineering skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.

You’ll work with Python, AWS and Snowflake to build the data foundations that power pricing and modelling decisions across Liberty Mutual. Along the way, you’ll develop practical experience in modern cloud data engineering, learn from experienced engineers, and build the confidence to take on increasingly complex data products and platforms.

Experience and skills we need:

• Experience in delivering software and solutions using Python, SQL and AWS.
• A third level qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science or STEM subject and one year of post graduate software development experience in a commercial environment; or current and valid industry recognised certifications and three years software development experience in a commercial environment
• Experience in agile software delivery (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in technical communication with peers and non-technical stakeholders.

• Collaborate closely and cooperatively with your technical and non-technical teams to work towards the best solution that maximises value to the customer.
• Contribute to a culture of code quality and implement automated, unit and integration testing as part of the software development lifecycle. Apply good security processes such as threat modelling to the code you develop.
• Implement your team’s Engineering Excellence standards when creating solutions. Actively participate in deployment by reviewing Pull Requests from other team members and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Grow your knowledge of architecture, modern engineering principles and design patterns.
• Assess the business value of new technologies and technical solutions using a data-driven approach and contribute to their adoption into the product life cycle.
• Supported by senior team members, seek opportunities to share and celebrate what you’ve learned through internal tech talks, blogging and external events.
