Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to help build, operate and evolve the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) for EU customers. You will work with AWS Managed Operations to deliver high-availability services across EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, while joining a on-call on-rotation schedule and collaborating with global teams.

The role emphasizes scaling production systems, driving reliability improvements, and contributing to long-term platform

Qualifications

Experience developing software code in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, etc.).
Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting or networking administration and troubleshooting.
This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.
Experience in engineering, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems.
Experience designing systems for performance, simplicity, and scalability, durability, cost, and security.

Responsibilities

Oversee ongoing operations and expansion of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC).
Collaborate with global AWS teams to evolve services and technology.
Operate and improve availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of ESC.
Occasionally participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents out-of-hours.
