Job summary

Synergy Recruitment Partners is seeking a highly motivated Estimator to join our dynamic commercial team in Dublin. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for modular construction, review drawings and BOMs, and collaborate with design, engineering and procurement to ensure accurate, competitive pricing.

The role requires at least 3 years in estimating, preferably in modular/offsite construction, a degree in a related field, and strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years estimating experience, preferably in modular or offsite construction.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, materials, and methodologies in modular/volume construction.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Excel; BIM experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs for modular building projects.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and 3D models to extract quantities and prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing.
• Assist in preparing tender documents and proposals.
• Conduct risk assessments and prepare contingency plans for project uncertainties.
• Maintain an up-to-date cost database for materials, labour, and subcontractor rates.
• Support procurement in contract negotiations and supplier selection.
• Liaise with project managers and finance to track actual costs and variances.

• Strong understanding of construction costs, materials, and methodologies, particularly in modular and volumetric construction.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Excel; experience with 3D modelling and BIM is a distinct advantage.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with suppliers and internal teams effectively.
• Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in preparing cost estimates.
