Job summary

Jones Engineering in Damastown, Dublin 15, is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead tendering for Ireland, UK, and Europe. The role offers hybrid work depending on candidate fit and requires someone to join the Estimating Department to manage tenders and a team of estimators.

You will report to the Group Estimating Manager and collaborate with administrators while driving accurate, competitive bids within tight timelines. This is a full-time position in a major contractor environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar estimating role.
• Relevant degree qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure with strict deadlines.
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills adept at communicating with impact.
• Excellent record keeping and administrative skills.
• Solves problems analytically and acts decisively.
• Experience with MS Suite, especially in the use of Excel & GSheets essential.

Responsibilities

• Review bid strategy and contribute to developing this with the final goal of a comprehensive, competitive bid within time constraints.
• Involvement in tendering large-scale projects in Ireland, UK & across Europe.
• Lead a team of estimators, with support from the Group Estimating Manager/Director.
• Assist in compiling the Technical Submission with attention to exclusions and program of works.
• Agree estimating approach & strategy with the Group Estimating Manager/Director.
• Manage standalone bids (RFTs/PQQs) from start to finish.
• Liaise with Marketing on RFTs/PQQs to ensure up-to-date documentation.
• Be a thought leader in bid material and evolving estimating strategies.
• Schedule meetings and coordinate interactions within the estimating dept.
• Conduct in-depth reviews of tender documents with estimators.
• Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors.
• Evaluate supplier quotations with Estimating Team.
• Issue tender RFIs and review client responses.
