Job summary

H&MV Engineering in Ireland invites an Environmental Sustainability Advisor to assist the HSE & Sustainability Departments in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and advancing sustainability initiatives across our projects.

You will work with experienced professionals, develop policy, review tender and construction plans, and support ISO 14001 activities while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental management, sustainability, or related field.
  • Knowledge of construction-related environmental issues and regional legal requirements.
  • 5–6 years’ experience in a similar role with environmental management.
  • Interest in environmental sustainability issues and a career in this field.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and environmental management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of environmental policies, strategies, and initiatives within various company areas.
  • Provide environmental input during tendering, bid preparation, design development and project planning.
  • Review project specs, drawings, and methods to identify environmental risks.
  • Develop project-specific environmental and sustainability plans, risk registers, and information packs.
  • Prepare Construction Phase Plans and Environmental Management Plans as required.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk workshops, and contractor engagement sessions.
  • Ensure activities align with EU environmental legislation and client requirements.
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance within the organisation.
  • Assist in preparing environmental documentation for tenders and client submissions.
  • Monitor changes in environmental legislation and best practices.

About the Role:

As an Environmental Sustainability Advisor, you will play a crucial role in assisting the HSE & Sustainability Departments in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting sustainability initiatives, and identifying areas for improvement within H&MV Engineering's operations. Working alongside experienced environmental & sustainability professionals, you will gain valuable skills and knowledge within the field, contributing to the company's overall sustainability goals.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the development and implementation of environmental policies, strategies, and initiatives within various areas of the company.

  • Provide environmental and sustainability input during tendering, bid preparation, design development and project planning.

  • Review project specifications, drawings, construction methodologies and proposed programmes to identify environmental and sustainability risks.

  • Support the development of project-specific environmental and sustainability strategies, plans and risk registers.

  • Develop Pre-Construction Information Packs, Construction Phase Plans, Construction Environmental Management Plans and other environmental and sustainability plans where required.

  • Participate in design reviews, risk workshops, constructability reviews and contractor engagement sessions.

  • Ensure pre-construction activities align with applicable EU environmental and sustainability legislation, regulations, client requirements and industry codes of practice.

  • Support compliance with ISO 14001 management system requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation and review of environmental and sustainability documentation for tenders, pre-qualification questionnaires and client submissions.

  • Monitor changes in environmental and sustainability legislation and industry best practice relevant to construction and energy infrastructure projects.

  • Contribute to the execution of H&MV Engineering's ESG objectives and targets.


Key Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in environmental management, sustainability, or related field.

  • Knowledge of construction related environmental & sustainability issues in the region and associated legal requirements.

  • 5 to 6 years’ experience in a similar role, with a proven track record with environmental management and environmental and sustainability regulations.

  • Proven interest in environmental & sustainability issues and a desire to develop a career within the sustainability industry.

  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental management systems (e.g. ISO 14001).

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to interpret and analyse environmental data.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive and adaptable approach.

  • Full clean driving licence.
