Job summary

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in environmental management on major infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Solid knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and consenting processes in Ireland.
  • Experience with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and environmental management systems.
  • Proven ability to lead environmental delivery across complex, multi-disciplinary programmes.
  • Experience working with regulators and public authorities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering or related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CEnv, ISEP, APM, IPM, PMI or equivalent).

Job Description

Are you an experienced Environmental Assurance Lead with a proven track record in delivering environmental management on major infrastructure programmes? You will lead environmental strategy and compliance across nationally significant D\&B infrastructure projects in Ireland including metro, aviation, rail, water and highway schemes, ensuring projects are delivered in line with regulatory requirements, best practice, and sustainability objectives.

Your new role

As Environmental Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all environmental aspects of major infrastructure projects in Ireland, including metro, aviation, rail, water and highways schemes. You will provide leadership across environmental planning, assessment, compliance, and implementation, ensuring alignment with statutory approvals and project objectives.

Working pattern

Hybrid role requiring office and site attendance as required, with a majority of projects delivered in and around Dublin.

Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Leading environmental management across large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects from inception to delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, planning approvals, and consent conditions (e.g. EIA, permits, licences)
  • Developing and implementing environmental strategies, plans and management systems
  • Overseeing environmental impact assessment processes and ensuring commitments are embedded into delivery
  • Monitoring contractor environmental performance and auditing compliance with project requirements
  • Managing environmental risks, issues and mitigation measures throughout the project lifecycle
  • Providing environmental advice and guidance to project teams, supporting informed decision-making
  • Leading engagement with regulators, local authorities and key stakeholders on environmental matters
  • Supporting sustainability objectives, including climate, carbon, biodiversity and resource efficiency initiatives
  • Coordinating environmental reporting and ensuring robust governance and assurance processes
  • Promoting a strong environmental culture and driving continuous improvement across the project
About You
  • Significant experience in environmental management on major infrastructure or construction projects (e.g. rail, metro, highways, water, aviation)
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulations and consenting processes in Ireland (or comparable jurisdictions)
  • Experience with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and environmental management systems
  • Proven ability to lead environmental delivery across complex, multi-disciplinary programmes
  • Experience working with contractors to ensure environmental compliance and performance on site
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with regulators and public authorities
  • Ability to identify environmental risks and implement practical, effective mitigation strategies
  • Good understanding of sustainability principles, including carbon management, climate resilience and biodiversity
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across all levels
  • Proactive, collaborative and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CEnv, ISEP, APM, IPM, PMI or equivalent)
