Job summary

GemPool Recruitment is partnering with a global technology company to recruit an experienced Engineering Team Lead to take ownership of their Android engineering function. You’ll lead a team and drive the Android platform's architecture, delivering high-quality, production Kotlin code and Jetpack Compose UI.

You’ll work with Product, Design, QA, Backend, Web and iOS teams to shape technical roadmaps and engineering standards. Sponsorship is not provided at this time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in an Android Lead/Tech Lead or senior Android role.
• Strong commercial experience building consumer-facing Android apps.
• Deep hands-on Kotlin experience with modern patterns, coroutines and flows.
• Proficiency with Jetpack Compose for UI development.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, international technology business whose products are used by millions of customers worldwide.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design, QA, Backend, Web and iOS teams, playing a key role in shaping the technical roadmap and engineering standards.

What You'll Do

• Lead and develop a team of Android engineers, providing technical direction, mentorship and career development.
• Own the technical direction, architecture and delivery of the Android platform.
• Remain hands-on, writing production-quality Kotlin code and developing UI using Jetpack Compose.
• Establish and maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, technical guidance and best practices.
• Own and continuously improve the CI/CD pipeline, including automated builds, testing, signing and releases using GitHub Actions.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years' experience in an Android Lead, Tech Lead or Engineering Management position, or significant senior-level Android experience with the capability and ambition to move into technical leadership.
• Strong commercial experience building and scaling consumer-facing Android applications.
• Deep, hands-on experience with Kotlin, including modern Kotlin patterns, coroutines and flows.
• Strong production experience with Jetpack Compose, including state management, navigation and performance optimisation.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
