Job summary

Jobtailor, based in Ireland, seeks an experienced Android Lead/Engineering Manager to guide a consumer Android app from architecture to delivery. You will write production Kotlin, lead a Compose-based UI, and own the CI/CD pipeline and release automation across internal tracks and production.

You will drive testing, reduce technical debt, and mentor engineers while partnering with Product, Design, QA, and Backend. Strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in an Android Lead or Engineering Manager role or significant senior Android development with leadership aspiration.
• Proven track record of delivering and scaling consumer-facing Android apps.
• Kotlin expertise with coroutines, flows, and modern patterns.
• Jetpack Compose production experience with UI, state management, and navigation.
• Strong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions for Android apps.
• Experience reducing technical debt and mentoring engineers across teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English with clear stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Android engineering team and set technical direction.
• Own Kotlin code, UI in Jetpack Compose, and code reviews.
• Own CI/CD pipeline, testing, and release automation.
• Promote testing culture: unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Manage technical debt and align with stakeholders on priorities.
• Develop engineers across levels through coaching and 1:1s.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Backend to deliver end-to-end features.
• Monitor performance, crashes, startup time, and Play Store quality.
