Job summary

Google is seeking an Engineering Manager for AlphaNet Core SRE in Ireland to lead a team responsible for uptime and performance of critical services. You will drive availability, build automation, and incident response tooling, while mentoring engineers and coordinating on-call rotations.

The role focuses on managing large-scale, distributed systems, with emphasis on design, debugging, and improving reliability across Google’s networks and platforms.

• Manage and take active part in on-call rotations.
• Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of Google's services.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google's services-both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems-b have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE's will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.

As the Engineering Manager for AlphaNet Core SRE, you will lead a team that operates Google's Software-Defined Networking (SDN) architecture across our campus aggregation and wide-area production networks.

In this role, you will drive strategic efforts to improve network safety and introduce new products to the core networks. You will guide your team's contributions to the SDN stack, improve incident response tooling, and oversee Tier-1 emergency responses as well as root-cause analyses.
