Job summary

MSD Malaysia in Carlow is seeking an Engineering & Manufacturing intern to help transform data, automation, and digital tools. You’ll work with engineers and operations teams on projects delivering safety, quality, and productivity improvements.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, CS, or Data Analytics and want hands-on industry experience with a potential final-year project with real business impact.

Qualifications

• Currently studying 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with internship/work placement in the course.
• Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, CS, Manufacturing Tech, Data Analytics or related STEAM.
• Demonstrated interest in technology, digitalisation, automation, data analysis, or problem solving.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Curiosity, initiative and willingness to learn from professionals.
• Interest in applying engineering/technology solutions in advanced manufacturing.
• Appreciation for thoughtful design and user-friendly solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering, automation, and manufacturing teams in process improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and visual tools to improve visibility of performance metrics.
• Apply structured problem-solving to investigate recurring issues and identify improvements.
• Analyse data to identify trends, opportunities, and performance gains.
• Support implementation of connected worker technologies and workflow digitisation.
• Contribute ideas to make engineering spaces more engaging, connected, and compliant.
• Participate in cross-functional projects across multiple teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and process maps.
• Own an improvement project with defined deliverables and present outcomes to site leadership.
