Job summary

HEYSHAM PORT LTD in Ireland is offering an Engineering Apprentice role that combines hands-on tasking with a structured training programme. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, gain practical skills maintaining cranes, heavy plant, and other equipment, and progress toward recognised engineering qualifications.

  • Learn to diagnose faults and support planned and preventative maintenance.
  • Develop safe engineering practices in a complex operational environment.
  • Work with mentors to develop technical knowledge and progress through the apprenticeship.

Vacancy - Engineering Apprentice
Your Role

As an Engineering Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers while completing a structured apprenticeship programme and working towards recognised engineering qualifications. You'll gain hands-on experience maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment used across our busy port operation, including cranes, heavy plant and machinery

Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you'll develop practical engineering skills, learn how to diagnose faults, support planned and preventative maintenance activities, and build an understanding of safe engineering practices in a complex operational environment.You'll also work closely with mentors develop your technical knowledge and successfully progress through your apprenticeship.

What you'll bring

You will have a genuine interest in developing a career in Engineering, as well as:

  • Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), including Maths, English and a science-based subject, or expected achievement prior to starting.
  • A genuine interest in engineering and how things work.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safety and learning.
  • The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • A commitment to successfully completing all college assignments, coursework and assessments on time throughout the apprenticeship.
