The apprenticeship combines seven on-the-job training phases with off-the-job modules at SOLAS centres, building skills in maintenance, machine tooling and fault rectification.

The MAMF apprenticeship is a system of employment-focused training and education which enables a person to obtain the skills, knowledge and competence required to perform effectively as a craft person within industry. It involves seven phases of on-the-Job training as part of the maintenance team and off the job training modules carried out at designated SOLAS training centres.
