Job summary

Responsibilities

Maintenance Manager

Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan | Onsite

An established food manufacturing business in Co. Monaghan is looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead its site engineering and maintenance function.

This is a key leadership position with responsibility for asset reliability, maintenance strategy, engineering standards, team development and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with Production and Projects to ensure the site operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

The role would suit an experienced Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Engineering Lead or Maintenance Supervisor ready to take ownership of a larger maintenance function.

The Role

You will lead the site's maintenance team and take responsibility for ensuring plant, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and develop the site maintenance and engineering team, providing clear direction, coaching and performance management.
• Develop and implement effective preventative and planned maintenance strategies across the site.
• Drive improvements in equipment reliability, plant availability and maintenance effectiveness.
• Plan and prioritise maintenance activities to minimise production downtime.
• Establish consistent engineering and maintenance standards across production areas.
• Manage maintenance systems, work planning, spare parts and engineering resources.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and use performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Manage the maintenance budget and control expenditure across engineering activities and spare parts.
• Oversee the management of site utilities, services and infrastructure.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving reliability, efficiency and maintenance performance.
• Work closely with Production and Projects on the introduction of new equipment, products and process developments.
• Manage external contractors and engineering service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Support the development of maintenance capability through training, succession planning and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with relevant Health & Safety, food safety, environmental and legislative requirements.
• Promote a proactive engineering culture focused on prevention, reliability and continuous improvement.

What are we looking for?

You will ideally have:

• A Level 3 qualification or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Significant maintenance or engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience leading and developing a maintenance or engineering team.
• Strong knowledge of asset management and preventative maintenance systems.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and engineering expenditure.
• A good understanding of site utilities, services and infrastructure.
• Experience managing contractors and external engineering suppliers.
• Strong understanding of maintenance KPIs, reliability and planned maintenance.
• A track record of delivering continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Strong communication and people leadership skills.
• A practical, structured approach to problem solving and prioritisation.

Experience within food, FMCG, packaging or another high-volume manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
