Maintenance Engineer - Manufacturing / Food Processing
Location: Cork- Fully Onsite Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing and production environment in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in manufacturing maintenance, ideally gained within a food processing, FMCG, cold-chain or refrigeration environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of production equipment, while supporting preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Own Car & Driving Licence essential to go between sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programmes across the production facility.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and processing equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and automation-related faults to minimise production downtime.
- Maintain and troubleshoot controls, sensors, pneumatics, electrical systems and automated equipment.
- Support the safe and efficient operation of all maintenance systems and production machinery.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, equipment reliability and process optimisation.
- Work closely with the maintenance and production teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment and process issues.
- Support the implementation of improvements and repairs across the manufacturing facility.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to downtime tracking, failure analysis and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) reporting.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in line with GMP, health & safety and company procedures.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying potential equipment failures and addressing issues before they impact production.
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician or similar engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience maintaining production and processing machinery.
- Experience within a food processing, FMCG, cold-chain, refrigeration or similar high-volume production environment would be highly advantageous.
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering, automation and industrial control systems.
- Experience with sensors, pneumatics, controls and electrical systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to diagnose and resolve issues on production equipment.
- Experience working within a fast-paced production environment, where minimising downtime is a key priority.
- Understanding of preventative and planned maintenance principles.
- Good computer skills with the ability to complete maintenance records and reports.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A proactive approach to maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance/production team.
