Job description

Shape a future with purpose at Arup in Ireland

Help coordinate and deliver multidisciplinary energy and infrastructure projects that support a more sustainable and resilient future

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world. We have been present in Ireland since 1946 and have a team of more than 950 engineers, consultants and qualified technical personnel. We work for public and private-sector clients, providing creative and sustainable solutions based on the efficient use of resources.

Our Energy team delivers technical, design and advisory services across a diverse portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will help coordinate projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design and construction support, working with colleagues and clients in Ireland and internationally.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join our growing Energy team and develop your project management career in a technically focused, multidisciplinary environment.

As an Energy Infrastructure Project Manager, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of civil, energy and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with engineering specialists, clients, contractors, statutory authorities and other stakeholders to manage project interfaces and support successful outcomes.

This is primarily a project delivery role within an engineering environment. It combines project management responsibilities with the technical understanding required to coordinate engineering inputs, manage delivery requirements and support informed project decisions.

The position offers exposure to projects across their full lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through planning, detailed design and construction. You will have opportunities to broaden your project delivery experience and develop towards future project leadership roles.

As an Energy Infrastructure Project Manager at Arup, you will:

  • Coordinate the delivery of multidisciplinary energy and infrastructure projects from feasibility and concept design through detailed design and construction support.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, delivery plans, resource requirements and reporting arrangements.
  • Monitor project scope, programme, budget and delivery performance, identifying emerging issues and coordinating appropriate responses.
  • Coordinate civil engineering and other multidisciplinary technical inputs, deliverables and project interfaces.
  • Support project controls, risk management, commercial management, resource planning and project reporting.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, statutory authorities and other stakeholders to support effective communication and project delivery.
  • Take ownership of defined project tasks, workstreams or packages and coordinate their delivery to agreed quality, programme and budget requirements.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, bids and client presentations.
  • Contribute to project delivery during construction and commissioning, where required.
  • Mentor graduates and junior team members, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote safe, sustainable and technically excellent project outcomes.

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone who is motivated by the successful delivery of energy and infrastructure projects and enjoys bringing together people, technical inputs and project requirements.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant professional experience, reflecting the scope and responsibilities of this Grade 4 position.
  • Experience delivering civil infrastructure, energy or comparable multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Experience coordinating project activities, technical deliverables and multidisciplinary interfaces.
  • Practical understanding of project planning, programme management, resource coordination, cost monitoring, risk management and project controls.
  • Knowledge of one or more relevant infrastructure areas, such as roads and access infrastructure, drainage and flood management, utilities, earthworks and site development, energy infrastructure, pipelines or cable infrastructure.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to agreed programme, quality and budget requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, technical teams, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the commercial considerations associated with engineering project delivery.

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • Chartered Engineer status or are progressing towards chartership.
  • Previous experience in the energy sector.
  • Experience acting as a task lead or package lead.
  • Experience supporting programme, cost and risk management activities.
  • Experience supporting projects during construction or commissioning.
  • Experience working directly with utility, energy or infrastructure clients.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, GIS or equivalent engineering software.

If you do not meet every desirable requirement but believe that your experience and approach would enable you to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply.
