Job summary

Boston Scientific is seeking an R&D Engineering Manager to lead our Endoscopy Sustaining R&D team in Ireland. You will oversee a group of engineers focused on maintaining product quality, compliance, and business continuity across a portfolio of medical devices.

The role requires strong technical leadership, 5+ years in leadership, and experience with FDA/BSI regulated design controls. You will guide strategies, develop staff, manage budgets, and collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver

Qualifications

• Honours bachelor degree (level8) in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related discipline required.
• 5+ years in technical leadership roles, preferably in medical device industry.
• 1-2 years’ experience in direct people leadership preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical issues and risks across all levels clearly.
• Experience with FDA/BSI regulated medical device design controls.
• Knowledge of statistical data analysis and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Assists in functional deliverables and ensures technical excellence for Sustaining R&D.
• Provides guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
• Identifies opportunities to drive Value Improvement Projects and Complaint Reduction.
• Leads and mentors staff, recruits and develops talent, and drives best practices.
• Oversees budgets, staff levels, and allocation of resources with project managers.
• Maintains cross-functional team relationships and resolves technical issues.
