Endoscope Service Technician
Location: Dublin,Ireland
Our client is a sales, marketing, and technical services company. Their purpose is to deliver products and solutions to assist healthcare providers achieve optimum clinical outcomes. They are opening a new, state-of-the-art endoscope repair facility at the Dublin Service Centre. This is a significant investment in our clients endoscope service capability and creates an opportunity to help build a specialist workshop from the ground up. As the Endoscope Repair Technician, you will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, quotation, repair, testing and quality assurance of flexible endoscopes and associated devices, working to manufacturer specifications within a regulated quality environment. The role will work across a broad range of flexible endoscopes, including Fujifilm gastroscopes, colonoscopes, duodenoscopes, bronchoscopes and associated devices.
Candidate Location: On site in the Dublin office
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting, evaluation and repair of flexible endoscopes and associated equipment.
- Complete detailed incoming assessments and provide accurate repair recommendations and cost estimates.
- Carry out complex and intricate repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved repair procedures.
- Conduct incoming inspection, decontamination, functional testing, quality control inspection and final release checks to OEM standards.
- Verify the integrity and performance of every repaired device before return to the customer.
- Identify root causes of failure and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Complete repairs within agreed turnaround times while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Work in accordance with the quality management system, including ISO 13485, and applicable EU MDR (Regulation 2017/745) and HPRA requirements.
- Follow validated decontamination and infection prevention procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Stay current with emerging endoscope technologies, repair techniques and manufacturer updates.
- Contribute to the development and validation of new repair capabilities and service offerings as the facility grows.
- Evaluate new components, tools and repair methodologies to extend workshop capability.
- Communicate clearly with Customer Service, Sales, Operations and Management colleagues.
- Provide technical support and repair-related advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction through professional, timely communication.
Typical technical work includes
- Diagnosis and fault-finding using leak testing, borescope inspection and functional testing.
- Insertion tube, light guide tube and bending section repair.
- Bending rubber replacement and angulation wire adjustment and replacement.
- Distal tip repair and CCD/CMOS image sensor work.
- Light guide and image bundle repair or replacement across fiberscope and videoscope platforms.
- Channel replacement, valve and biopsy port work, and air/water system repair.
- Control body strip-down, rebuild and calibration.
- Final functional testing, image quality assessment and release to customer.
Education/Experience
- Hands-on experience repairing flexible endoscopes within an OEM manufacturer, authorised service Centre or equivalent specialist repair environment.
- Proven repair experience with endoscopes from one or more of the following manufacturers: Fujifilm, Olympus or Pentax.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose faults and complete complex repairs across a range of endoscope models.
- Experience working within a regulated quality environment.
- Advanced fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
- Strong understanding of endoscope construction, functionality and repair methodology.
- Proficient communication in English is desirable.
- Demonstrates excellent fine motor dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Able to undertake extended periods of close and microscope-assisted bench work.
- Normal colour vision, or corrected equivalent, for image quality assessment
