Job summary

Morgan McKinley in Dublin is seeking an experienced Endoscope Repair Technician to join a specialist medical device service team. You will diagnose, repair, test and QA flexible endoscopes and related devices in a tightly regulated environment.

The role covers repair across gastroscopes, colonoscopes, duodenoscopes and related equipment, with emphasis on adherence to manufacturer specs, quality procedures and timely turnaround.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience repairing flexible endoscopes within an OEM manufacturer or specialist repair environment.
  • Proven repair experience with endoscopes from Fujifilm, Olympus or Pentax.
  • Experience diagnosing faults and completing complex repairs across multiple endoscope models.
  • Experience working in a regulated quality environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of endoscope construction and repair methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
  • Fine motor dexterity and microscope-assisted bench work ability.
  • Normal colour vision (or corrected).

About the Role

An established medical device service organisation is looking for an experienced Endoscope Repair Technician to join its specialist technical team in Dublin.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, quotation, repair, testing and quality assurance of flexible endoscopes and associated medical devices. The role involves working to manufacturer specifications within a highly regulated quality environment.

You will work across a range of flexible endoscopes, including gastroscopes, colonoscopes, duodenoscopes, bronchoscopes and associated devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, evaluate and repair flexible endoscopes and associated equipment.
  • Complete detailed incoming assessments and provide accurate repair recommendations and cost estimates.
  • Carry out complex and intricate repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved procedures.
  • Perform incoming inspection, decontamination, functional testing, quality control inspections and final release checks.
  • Verify the integrity and performance of every repaired device prior to customer return.
  • Identify root causes of failures and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Complete repairs within agreed turnaround times while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Work within the company's quality management system and applicable medical device regulations and standards.
  • Follow validated decontamination and infection prevention procedures, including the appropriate use of PPE.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of endoscope technology, repair techniques and manufacturer updates.
  • Support the development and validation of new repair capabilities as the business expands.
  • Evaluate new components, tools and repair methodologies to improve workshop capabilities.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Operations and Management teams.
  • Provide technical support and repair-related advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction through professional and timely communication.
Typical Technical Work

The role may include:

  • Diagnosis and fault-finding using leak testing, borescope inspection and functional testing.
  • Insertion tube, light guide tube and bending section repairs.
  • Bending rubber replacement and angulation wire adjustment or replacement.
  • Distal tip repair and CCD/CMOS image sensor work.
  • Light guide and image bundle repair or replacement across fibrescope and videoscope platforms.
  • Channel replacement, valve and biopsy port repairs, and air/water system repairs.
  • Control body strip-down, rebuild and calibration.
  • Final functional testing and image quality assessment.
  • Final quality inspection and release of repaired devices.
Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Hands-on experience repairing flexible endoscopes within an OEM manufacturer, authorised service centre or specialist repair environment.
  • Proven repair experience with endoscopes from one or more leading manufacturers such as Fujifilm, Olympus or Pentax.
  • Demonstrable experience diagnosing faults and completing complex repairs across a range of endoscope models.
  • Experience working within a regulated quality environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • A good understanding of endoscope construction, functionality and repair methodology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent fine motor dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • The ability to undertake extended periods of close and microscope-assisted bench work.
  • Normal colour vision, or corrected equivalent, for image quality assessment.
