Job summary

Cumas New Ross is hiring a Social Care Assistant in the New Ross area, Co. Wexford. The role supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, guided by a team leader, with a focus on independence, choice, and community participation.

Applicants need QQI Level 5 or equivalent, at least 6 months of relevant experience, strong IT/reporting skills, and a valid Irish driving license. The position is permanent, 35 hours per week, with a closing date and a probation period.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 Major Award (or equivalent) in Health or Social Care.
• 6+ months experience with individuals with intellectual disability; complex needs a distinct advantage.
• Good IT and report writing skills.
• Full clean driving licence (Manual and Automatic) valid in Ireland; willingness to drive company vehicles.
• Proficient in both oral and written English.
• Legitimate right to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and develop each individual’s choice and decision-making, involving representatives.
• Progress Individuals per their Individual Plan as directed by Day Services facilitators/leaders.
• Support working with assigned individuals.
• Accompany and support Individuals on holidays, outings, and community activities.
• Ensure Individual will and preferences inform all supports provided.
• Provide intimate care in line with privacy, dignity and policy.
