Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment is recruiting an Employment Support Officer to provide person-centred employment support to individuals with disabilities. You’ll help build confidence, develop employability skills and progress towards meaningful work, with work delivered virtually and face-to-face.

The role combines participant support, employer engagement and programme administration. It offers a fixed-term contract with travel to Dublin or Cork as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting jobseekers or people with disabilities.
  • Experience with employment services or vocational rehabilitation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of equality and accessibility.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Record-keeping and administrative duties.

Job description

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Employment Support Officer will provide person-centred employment support to individuals with disabilities, helping them develop confidence, build employability skills and progress towards meaningful employment.

This is a varied role combining participant support, employer engagement and programme administration, with support delivered both virtually and face-to-face.

Key Responsibilities
Participant Support
  • Provide one-to-one employment support tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist with CV preparation, job applications, interview preparation and job searching.
  • Support participants in identifying career goals and developing action plans.
  • Signpost and support access to education, training, volunteering, work experience and employment opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing support to participants and employers following job placement to promote sustainable employment.
Employer Engagement
  • Develop relationships with employers to identify employment opportunities.
  • Promote inclusive recruitment practices and workplace accessibility.
  • Support employers in implementing reasonable accommodations where appropriate.
  • Assist with participant onboarding and workplace transition.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and programme documentation.
  • Contribute to monitoring, reporting and funding requirements.
  • Build relationships with education providers, community organisations and employment services.
  • Represent the organisation at networking events, employer meetings and community initiatives.
About You

You will be passionate about supporting people into employment and have experience working with individuals who may face barriers to the labour market.

  • Experience supporting jobseekers, people with disabilities or other disadvantaged groups.
  • Experience within employment services, supported employment, career guidance, vocational rehabilitation or community-based programmes.
  • Strong understanding of disability inclusion, equality and accessibility.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative ability with experience maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams).
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel as required.
  • Degree in Social Care, Community Development, Psychology, Social Studies or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with employers to support inclusive recruitment.
  • Knowledge of supported employment programmes or government-funded employment initiatives.
  • Experience delivering workshops, training or group facilitation.
  • Experience monitoring programme outcomes and reporting.
