Job summary

Irish Wheelchair Association is seeking Healthcare Assistants (Personal Assistants) to support female members in Tuam and surrounding areas. The role is 20 hours a week, fixed term, Monday to Friday with alternate weekends.

Salary ranges from €16.22 to €18.03 per hour depending on experience; enhanced rates apply before 8am/after 8pm, Sundays and public holidays. Benefits include mileage, sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, pension, bike scheme and EAP.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 modules completed of the Major Award at QQI Level 5 in either Community & Health Services, Health Service Skills or Healthcare Support or other relevant qualification and a commitment to complete the major award.
• Experience of working with people in a caring role is essential.
• Be reliable, trustworthy and always maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills with a good level of spoken and written English.
• Full driver’s licence and access to your own car is essential.

Responsibilities

• The role enables members to achieve maximum independence in daily living, by providing assistance in personal care, domestic assistance, social/educational support, travel and companionship.
• Works in the homes and communities of our Members.
• Coordinate with other Home carers and ALS Coordinator/Scheduling staff.
