Job summary

Tunstall Healthcare Group is seeking an Emergency Helpline Operator for a permanent, part-time position. The role involves handling calls with empathy, assessing needs, and coordinating follow-up with emergency services or contacts.

Training is provided onsite for 5–6 weeks with pay, followed by a 24-hour-per-week schedule and enhanced shift allowances. Hours vary within a 24/7 operation, including day/evening shifts; some night shifts are possible.

Qualifications

• Proficient IT user; able to quickly learn new systems.
• Clear, confident phone communication.
• Excellent listening skills to extract key information.
• High attention to detail when recording data in systems.
• Calm, collected demeanor with a reassuring tone.

Responsibilities

• Speak with service users to provide support and reassurance during calls.
• Assess calls and determine the most appropriate follow-up action.
• Clearly pass information to emergency services or personal contacts as required.
• Maintain the Response Centre database with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Respond to calls promptly and provide calm, friendly assistance over the phone.
• Handle housing repair calls and coordinate with contractors as needed.
• Conduct outbound calls to comfort and reassure vulnerable end users.
