Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Assistant for a 34.5-hour fixed-term post in the ED, available until 01 January 2027. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ HCSW experience in an acute area.

The successful candidate will work closely with nursing and medical staff within the department and have the opportunity to undertake training specific to the Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department has a 34.5 hour fixed-term Band 3 Emergency Department Assistant post available until 1 January 2027. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ HCSW experience in an acute area.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake training specific to the Emergency Department. As a valued member of the team, the Emergency Department Assistant works closely with both nursing and medical staff within the department. Applicants should be able to work effectively in a busy and sometimes stressful environment, use their initiative, and contribute positively to the wider team. Computer skills would be advantageous.

We are a busy department and see the full spectrum of patients with illness and injury, covering all ages, with approximately 20% being paediatric. We prioritise teaching, have a strong team ethos, and are committed to continued improvement.
