Job summary

CBRE is seeking an EMEA Projects Estimator to support the Data Centre Solutions team across Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing tender costings, take-offs, sub-contract and materials inquiries, and post-tender negotiations.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in QS/Estimating within construction and 2+ years in the data centre sector, with a Mechanical/Electrical background and willingness to travel Europe.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Quantity Surveying/Estimating in construction.
• At least 2 years in the data centre sector.
• Degree-level qualification in Mechanical and/or Electrical fields.
• Ability to travel across Europe.

Responsibilities

• Assess tender documents to ensure sufficient information for tender.

Job Purpose

The Estimator contributes to a team responsible for preparing project cost estimates in an explicit and consistent manner, accounting for construction methods and project-specific execution requirements.

This role is part of an established Estimating Team reporting to the Senior Estimator or Commercial Lead.

The individual must be able to work autonomously and as part of the wider Estimating/Project Team.

This position provides the necessary training, guidance, and resources to support effective and efficient delivery.

Pre-Contract

• Assess tender documents to ensure sufficient information is available to prepare the tender.
• Take off quantities.
• Prepare and issue sub-contract enquiries and perform objective assessment of quotations upon receipt.
• Prepare and issue material supply enquiries and perform objective assessment of quotations upon receipt.
• Assist in the analysis of net tender package returns and complete sub-contractor analysis schedule for adjudication.
• Assist in the analysis and assessment of individual package requirements for fixed price and contingency additions for review at tender settlement.
• Produce documents for tender settlement and present clear net costings identifying risk and opportunity.
• Assist with the completion of the Tender Sum Analysis for review by the BUD/Commercial Lead and issue at adjudication, including cash flow and forecast support.
• Upload tender information onto PDS System.
• Attend Justification & Approval meetings, document outcomes, and undertake resultant amendments.
• Complete client pricing documents including Form of Tender, Contract sum analysis, and Prelims breakdown for incorporation into the commercial submission.
• Develop and address gaps in the tender, compile clarifications, and manage estimator notes for the file copy.
• Incorporate late changes and tender amendments.
• Submit tenders and manage follow-up.
• Lead post-tender negotiations.

Decision Making/Budgetary Control

• No budgetary control unless granted by the client or authorised by the EMEA Project Director.

Professional Requirements

Skills:

Commercial awareness, financial acumen, influencing and negotiation skills, ability to present effectively, ability to interpret commercial and financial metrics, surveying background in Mechanical and Electrical works, proficiency in measurement/estimating software (e.g., Cubit/Buildsoft).

Knowledge:

Current knowledge of the construction market, competence in Quantity Surveying & commercial methodology, understanding of data centre project delivery programmes and impacts of working in live environments.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of proven Quantity Surveying/Estimating experience in construction, minimum of 2 years of experience in the data centre sector, experience with new builds and live environments.

Qualifications:

Degree level, Mechanical and/or Electrical background, business standard of written and verbal literacy and numeracy.

Aptitude:

Interpersonal and communication skills, influencing skills, ability to establish professional credibility, capacity to manage variability, high degree of integrity, proactive, highly organised with attention to detail, results-focused, comfortable in a fast-paced project environment.

Circumstances:

Able to travel across Europe as required.
