Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer for a technology organisation building advanced embedded and wireless solutions. The role focuses on C/C++ in embedded environments, bare-metal and Embedded Linux, Linux drivers, and DSP/SDR concepts.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial development experience with C/C++ in embedded environments.
• Good knowledge of bare-metal development and Embedded Linux.
• Hands-on experience configuring and customising Linux-based embedded platforms.
• Experience with Linux device drivers, including DMA, interrupts and Device Trees.
• Familiarity with Yocto and/or Buildroot.
• Knowledge of U-Boot, Linux Kernel configuration and Device Trees.
• Understanding of Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
• Knowledge of Software Defined Radio (SDR).

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype new embedded and wireless technology solutions.
• Develop low-level software and firmware primarily using C/C++.
• Build solutions for real-time embedded Linux environments, e.g. RISC-V and MicroBlaze.
• Develop concepts into robust, deployment-ready solutions.
• Configure, build and optimise Embedded Linux systems.
• Work across bootloaders, kernel configuration, drivers and interfaces.
• Build and deploy embedded Linux environments for offline development and deployment.
• Collaborate with a small team of engineers in an Agile development environment.
