Job summary

The Grosse Pointe Public School System is seeking an Elementary School Social Worker to support social-emotional, behavioral, and academic success for students in general education. This 1.0 FTE position collaborates with families, teachers, and MTSS to implement interventions and connect students with resources.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed practices, confidentiality, and a commitment to ongoing professional learning, with a grant-funded term for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Current Michigan Department of Education approval/certification to serve as a School Social Worker.
• Appropriate State of Michigan social work licensure.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students and/or in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual, small-group, classroom-based, and crisis supports to address students' social-emotional, behavioral, attendance, and school adjustment needs.
• Serves as an active member of the MTSS process, developing and implementing Tier 1–3 interventions and monitoring progress.
• Collaborates with teachers, families, and other professionals to identify barriers and develop proactive strategies and supports, including FBAs and BIPs.
• Partners with families and community agencies to strengthen home-school relationships and address barriers related to attendance, engagement, mental health, and academic success.
• Maintains confidential records and adheres to applicable laws and district procedures.
