Job summary

Synergy Recruitment Partners seeks a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Senior Authorised Person) to lead HV switching, planned maintenance, and outage coordination in a mission-critical environment.

You will oversee maintenance activities, mentor technicians, and ensure regulatory compliance, safety-first operations, and high plant availability while coordinating with the maintenance planner and vendors.

Qualifications

• Hands-on HV switching experience is required.
• Experience coordinating HV switching with sub-contractors and planners.
• Strong fault-finding and reporting capabilities.
• Familiarity with power generation equipment incl. generators/CCGT a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV switching operations on site and develop SOPs/LOTO/permit-to-work procedures.
• Coordinate outages and planned maintenance via the CMMS; perform root-cause analysis to improve asset reliability.
• Oversee third-party contractors and manage project scope, safety, and budgets.
• Mentor on-site technicians and Authorised Persons to uphold safety and compliance.

Job description

Great opportunity for a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Senior Authorised Person) to oversee planned maintenance, coordinate works with the maintenance planner and wider maintenance team, be responsible for all HV related switching activities on site with a safety-first mindset, respond to emergency events during normal work hours and out of hours when on-call in a mission-critical environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will serve as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical equipment in a mission-critical environment. Your core focus is ensuring maximum plant availability, leading HV switching activities, and managing preventative maintenance alongside third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• HV & Switching Operations: Lead site HV switching, develop SOPs/EOPs/MOPs, and maintain strict control over Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work systems.
• Maintenance & Reliability: Coordinate outages and planned maintenance via the CMMS; conduct root-cause analysis on faults to optimize asset performance.
• Vendor & Project Management: Oversee third-party contractors, track SLA performance, and execute site electrical projects safely within budget.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce site safety standards, process safety, and regulatory compliance while mentoring on-site technicians and Authorised Persons.

Requirements

• Technical Qualifications: Qualified Electrical Tradesperson (NFQ or equivalent) with accredited HV training (e.g., City & Guilds). A degree in Electrical Engineering is desirable.
• Core Experience: Hands-on experience coordinating HV switching, managing sub-contractors, and using CMMS/SCADA systems.
• Skills: Strong fault-finding ability, report writing, and familiarity with power generation equipment (backup generators/CCGT). Commissioning or protection system experience is a plus.
