Job summary

Designer Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a project team in Littleconnell, County Kildare. You will support electrical package delivery, review drawings and specs, and coordinate with design teams, suppliers and clients throughout construction, commissioning and handover.

The role offers involvement in high-value projects and requires collaboration with senior engineers and project managers to ensure safe, efficient delivery in line with Irish standards.

Qualifications

  • Expectation of a Level 7 degree in Electrical/Building Services engineering or related field.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in electrical engineering or building services roles.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems from design to installation.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, containment, fire alarm and emergency lighting.
  • Ability to support design coordination, site issues, submittals and handover docs.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications and schedules to meet project requirements.
  • Support review of coordinated construction drawings and technical docs.
  • Prepare RFIs and technical queries for clients or consultants.
  • Review specialist supplier packages against project specs.
  • Prepare and track technical submittals for client approval.
  • Monitor procurement schedules with the procurement team.
  • Utilise Dialux, Relux, Amtech ProDesign, Navisworks or similar tools.
  • Assist with BCAR inspection requirements and liaise with the quality team.
  • Support LEED and BREEAM submittals where applicable.
  • Assist preparation of operation and maintenance manuals and handover docs.
  • Attend client demonstrations, inspections and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support to project team during construction and handover.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, PMs, design teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our project team based in Littleconnell, County Kildare. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major, high-value project and play a key role in the successful delivery of the electrical package.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the review of drawings, specifications and schedules to support compliance with project requirements, applicable standards and industry guidance.
  • Support the review of coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of RFIs and technical queries for issue to the client, design team or consultants.
  • Support the review of specialist supplier packages against the project specification and relevant standards.
  • Assist with the preparation and tracking of technical submittals for client approval.
  • Support the preparation and monitoring of procurement schedules in conjunction with the procurement team.
  • Use engineering software tools such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech ProDesign, Navisworks or similar packages where required.
  • Assist with the review of BCAR inspection requirements and coordinate with the quality team as needed.
  • Support the tracking of LEED and BREEAM requirements and associated submittals where applicable.
  • Assist with the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals and project handover documentation.
  • Attend client demonstrations, inspections and commissioning activities as required.
  • Provide technical support to the project team during construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, design teams, subcontractors and suppliers to support the successful delivery of the electrical package.
  • A Level 7 Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in electrical engineering, electrical project engineering, building services, or a similar role.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems from a design, construction, or installation perspective.
  • Knowledge of electrical services such as power distribution, lighting, containment, fire alarm, emergency lighting, and general building services systems.
  • Ability to support project teams with technical queries, design coordination, site issues, submittals, inspections, and handover documentation.
  • Capable of working as part of a project team, taking direction from senior engineers, project managers, design teams, and site teams.
  • Good knowledge of relevant Irish electrical, fire alarm, and emergency lighting standards, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
  • Knowledge of engineering software such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or similar packages is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
