We are looking for an experienced Electrical / Electronics Engineer to join our specialist build team. This role offers the opportunity to work on bespoke fire engines, where electrical systems are carefully designed, installed, and integrated to support critical life‑saving operations.

From custom wiring and control systems to lighting, communications, and onboard equipment, your work will help ensure that firefighters have the tools, technology, and reliability they depend on when responding to emergencies. You’ll work closely with fabrication and mechanical teams to bring complex electrical systems together into vehicles that are fit for purpose, dependable, and ready for the frontline.

This is a role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering high-quality electrical work on specialist builds, and who takes pride in knowing their craft contributes to helping emergency services protect communities and save lives.

The Electrical / Electronics Engineer Role

As part of the specialist build team, you will work on custom and bespoke vehicle projects, installing and configuring electrical and electronic systems tailored to specific client requirements.

This role involves working on bespoke and non-standard vehicle builds, where attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work independently on specialist and bespoke vehicle builds
  • Install, fit, and wire electrical and electronic components to suit custom vehicle specifications
  • Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, and build documentation
  • Design and adapt wiring solutions where standard looms are unavailable
  • Diagnose, fault-find, and resolve electrical issues across 12V and 24V systems
  • Use diagnostic equipment to test, configure, and programme electrical components
  • Ensure all installations are neat, reliable, compliant, and fit for purpose
  • Collaborate with fabrication, mechanical, and build teams during vehicle builds
About You

You are an experienced technician who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality craftsmanship.

You’re comfortable working independently but also value being part of a skilled workshop team delivering complex builds.

  • Qualified in Automotive Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Electronics /
  • Proven experience in an electrical / electronics role
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including bespoke installations
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create wiring diagrams
  • Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Experience using diagnostic and programming equipment
  • Experience with specialist vehicle builds or conversions
  • Commercial vehicles, fleet builds, or custom bodywork projects
  • Ancillary systems such as lighting, cameras, beacons, inverters, PTOs, and CAN systems
