Job summary

Matrix Recruitment is assisting a manufacturing client in Co. Wexford to appoint an EHS Officer. The role is permanent and onsite, focusing on health, safety and environmental compliance across the site.

You will lead risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and maintain ISO 45001 and 14001 standards, while delivering inductions and training to staff and reporting EHS KPIs to management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years EHS experience in manufacturing, fabrication, engineering or another industrial environment.
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification.
• Risk assessments, incidents, audits & corrective actions.
• ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 experience.
• Hands-on, confident communicator, visible on the factory floor.

Responsibilities

• Manage and improve EHS systems to maintain compliance.
• Lead risk assessments, audits, and investigations.
• Close out corrective actions and maintain records.
• Oversee waste and environmental compliance.
• Maintain safety statements, registers, and inventories.
• Coordinate with regulators as required.
• Chair Safety Committee and promote near-miss reporting.
• Deliver EHS inductions, toolbox talks and staff training.
• Report EHS KPIs to management.
• Support safety procedures for machinery, lifting, contractors and emergencies.

This is a permanent, fully onsite role with a hands-on focus.

Your New Job

As EHS Officer, you’ll be responsible forall aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance onsite. You’ll work closely with management and the wider team to ensure standards are consistently met and improved.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and improve all EHS systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Lead and document risk assessments, audits, and inspections
• Carry out incident investigations and ensure actions are closed out
• Oversee site waste management and environmental compliance
• Maintain safety statements, registers, and chemical inventories
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies when required
• Chair the Safety Committee and encourage hazard/near-miss reporting
• Deliver EHS inductions, toolbox talks and staff training
• Report EHS KPIs to management
• Support machinery, lifting, contractor, and emergency safety procedures

What Are We Looking For?:
