Job summary

Jones Engineering seeks a Lead Advisor to drive safety, health and environmental (EHS) programs on a live healthcare site in Ireland. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, supervise contractors, and ensure compliance with Regulations and company policies while delivering safe, reliable operations onsite.

You will report to EHS leadership, develop and maintain the Safety and Contractors Management Systems, deliver toolbox talks, investigations and KPI reporting, and champion a culture of

  • 5+ years of EHS experience

Your responsibilities will include managing and maintaining the company’s Safety Management System and Contractors Management System. This role will be based full time onsite.

As a Lead advisor, you will play a pivotal role in our ongoing project implementation and delivery processes. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to deliver high standards of safety and compliance in a live healthcare environment. Your responsibilities will include managing and maintaining the company’s Safety Management System and Contractors Management System. This role will be based full time onsite.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with Regulations & Company Polices & Periodically inspecting, auditing, and reviewing safe work practices.
  • Reporting to the Commercial Group EHS Manager / JES Technical Services Manager
  • Set the vision, strategic direction and drive maintenance EHS excellence in a state-of-the-art live healthcare environment.
  • Being accountable for EHS performance metrics and implementation of annual improvement plans.
  • Deliver guidance and coaching to senior maintenance management to ensure site actions are in alignment with Jones Engineering Group corporate EHS policies.
  • Establishes audit strategies that ensure programs meet or exceed all legal requirements in conjunction with the Commercial Group EHS Manager.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in maintenance and small works to establish and maintain a safe work environment, fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization and to drive continuous improvement initiatives related to EHS performance.
  • Manage subcontractors inductions, permits to work and compliance in line with PPM, reactive and small works scheduling
  • Prepare and review documentation to ensure all required records, reports and training are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Works with other jones team members to provide top level expertise on EHS subjects & provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on EHS matters.
  • Proactively plan and manage safe systems of work, standard operating procedures and contractor management procedures onsite
  • Measure and monitor construction EHS benchmarks, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet company-wide goals and drive best in class results.
  • Identify and coordinate EHS training and deliver weekly toolbox talks to meet regulatory requirements and improve EHS awareness & performance across the company.
  • Manage incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Serve as a point of contact for EHS regulatory agencies and represent the organization in relevant industry forums.
  • Organize and oversee emergency response drills and procedures to ensure preparedness and effective response.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to collate and present performance reports and provide insights.
  • Oversee projects on company internal digital safety platform.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Committed to delivering value and introducing new initiatives to enhance safety performance.
Skills & Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' EHS experience desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, or related subject.
  • Strong construction background along with EHS is a necessary.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire teams with a collaborative approach.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to build respect and influence at all levels.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
