ROSS Group is an engineering, construction and project management consultancy. Our teams deliver residential, commercial, data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and other mission-critical projects across Ireland, the UK and the USA. We’re growing, and we want an EHS Advisor to join our team in Roscommon who’ll set the standard on site, not just tick the boxes.
Data centres, semiconductor fabs, pharma plants. These are some of the most complex and safety-critical sites in construction, and we’re looking for an EHS Advisor to help us deliver them safely.
The Role
Reporting to the Group EHS Manager, you’ll cover a number of assigned sites and be the go-to person for health, safety and environmental standards on each one.
You’ll be out on site every day working with site managers, supervisors, our own people and subcontractors, making sure work is planned properly, risks are controlled, and issues are dealt with before they become incidents.
- Visit assigned sites daily to check EHS compliance, spot hazards and make sure company standards are being kept
- Run weekly site safety meetings, deliver toolbox talks and stay in regular contact with site managers, supervisors, operatives and subcontractors
- Carry out planned inspections and audits, record findings, raise corrective actions and follow them through to close-out
- Prepare, review and update RAMS, COSHH assessments, task briefings and safe systems of work, and make sure site teams understand them
- Monitor and enforce the Permit-to-Work system across hot works, lifting operations, work at height, confined spaces, electrical works and other high-risk activities
- Confirm the right controls, competent people, certified equipment and emergency arrangements are in place before any high-risk work starts
- Report and investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, find the root cause and produce clear reports with corrective and preventive actions
- Keep an eye on occupational health risks such as noise, vibration and hazardous substances, and make sure assessments and controls are in place
- Monitor environmental performance on site, including waste segregation and disposal, pollution prevention and spill control
- Maintain and control EHS records, including inspections, audits, incident registers, training records, permits and statutory documentation
- Support the EHS management system and its continuous improvement in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, including internal and external audits
- Give practical EHS advice to site management and the workforce, challenge unsafe practices and elevate serious risks or breaches to the Group EHS Manager
- Spot recurring issues and trends, recommend improvements and help build a proactive safety culture across all your sites
- Report regularly to the Group EHS Manager on site performance, KPIs, trends and areas for improvement
- Own your workload, making sure site visits, inspections, investigations, documentation and KPI reports are completed accurately and on time
