Job summary

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) is seeking an Education & Training Lead to advance accredited DSGBV programmes under the RiVeR project. The role involves leading programme development, delivery, and evaluation within the School of Health and Science.

The post is a 12-month contract with responsibilities for teaching, resource development, and frontline training. Candidates should have a primary degree plus Level 9 qualifications and at least 5 years’ post-qualification DSGBV experience.

Qualifications

  • Primary degree plus a Level 9 qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years post-qualification experience in the area of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Relevant experience in Education & Training in a third level setting.
  • Relevant experience in research evaluation to include data collection and analysis, preparation of ethics applications and report writing.

Responsibilities

  • To lead the preparation, development and co-ordination of accredited DSGBV programmes in the School of Health and Science
  • To teach and assess on accredited DSGBV programmes (up to 6 hours per week averaged over the academic year)
  • To lead the development, co-ordination and delivery of Reusable Learning Resources for front line DSGBV personnel, including organising related workshops
  • To evaluate accredited DSGBV programmes and other RiVeR Project outputs
  • Any other duties assigned commensurate to this level of post.

The School of Health and Science consists of 3 Departments and two Sections: Department of Nursing, Midwifery & Early Years Department of Life & Health Sciences Department of Agriculture, Food and Animal Health Section of Midwifery Section of Part Time Programmes It has an active research profile through its research centres and groups including the Smooth Muscle Research Centre, NetwellCASALA Research Centre, Centre for Fresh Water and Environmental Studies and the Nursing, Midwifery & Early Years Research Group.

Role The School Health and Science since 2016 has been involved in the provision of research, education and training in the area of Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (DSGBV)). In early 2023, Dundalk Institute of Technology, commenced the three-year RiVeR project (DkIT responding to the impacts of Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: Multi-agency education, research and training initiatives) funded under the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Performance Funding scheme . The DkIT RiVeR Project is an ambitious project which is targeted towards ongoing research whilst broadening the availability and opportunities for education and training to cohorts that are most in need of further support and education in the area of Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (DSGBV). The school plans to transition RiVer into a permanent, all island accredited education hub in the field of DSGBV. This post is for an Education & Training Lead, to lead out on accredited DSGBV programme development, delivery and evaluation of programmes and DGSBV training integral to the RiVeR Project (DkIT responding to the impacts of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence: multi-Agency education, research and training initiatives). This project has been funded under the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Technological Enhancement Fund. DkIT in partnership with key stakeholders, aims to incorporate systematic continuous research and evaluation into the RiVeR project and to expand its community of practice. This post provides an exciting opportunity for an Education & Training Lead to contribute to a dynamic project. It is a 12-month contract commencing on the 1st October 2026.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will carry out the lawful instructions of the President and comply with the requirements and regulations of the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.

Salary The salary for this position is as follows: €55,000 -€57,000 DOE (Dependent on Experience)
