Job summary

Jacobs is looking for a driven Ecologist to join our Irish ecology team and take a leading role in some of Europe’s most transformative infrastructure projects. From coastal protection to large-scale utilities, you’ll contribute to sustainable outcomes and environmental stewardship.

You’ll work across highways, rail, and energy with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior ecologists and delivering high-quality ecological assessments and reports.

Qualifications

• A degree in ecology or a related environmental discipline with industry experience.
• Associate membership of an appropriate professional body (or eligibility and commitment to achieving this)
• An experience ecological surveyor
• Ability to write clear and concise reports
• Inquisitiveness and willingness to learn.
• The ability to work well as part of a team.
• A ‘hands on’ work ethic and good self-awareness.

Responsibilities

• Help to deliver some of the most challenging and diverse infrastructure projects across highways, rail and energy
• Use your experiencein habitat and protected species survey, Ecological Clerk of Works, Ecological Impact Assessment, and Appropriate Assessment.
• A combination desk and site-based tasks – there will be a requirement to work across Ireland and at times, stay away from home during the working week.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that terrestrial ecology requirements are recognised, acknowledged and constraints acted upon
• Engagement with internal and external clients, environmental regulators and stakeholders
• Represent Jacobs through participation in professional networks, conferences, client meetings and knowledge sharing events
