Job summary

Workplace Options is seeking an EAP Counsellor to provide empathetic, telephonic and video counselling to participants worldwide. The role emphasizes short-term counselling, crisis support, and thorough assessment to determine suitability for brief interventions.

The counsellor will maintain strict confidentiality, document clinical notes, and refer clients within the organization as part of a holistic care approach. Hybrid or remote work options may apply depending on location.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Level 4 diploma in Counselling.
  • Membershipof a regulatory counselling body (IACP/Other) and either full accreditation or working towards accreditation.
  • Experience using short-term counselling modalities such as Solution-Focused, CBT, Mindfulness, Integrative, Systemic counselling.
  • Training in crisis intervention and supporting high risk clients beneficial.
  • Passionate about providing support to clients from anywhere in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Provide single session telephonic and videocounselling, in-the-moment support and crisis telephonic management in a supportive, ethical and professional manner while maintaining client-confidentiality.
  • Assess clients thoroughly to ensure appropriateness for short-term counselling.
  • Assess and manage high risk calls and working closely with individuals at risk.
  • Appropriately refer clients to external resources or within WPO as part of our holistic approach.
  • Maintain clear clinical and task-oriented documentation in case management system.
  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support, acting as a key point of contact to assist clients and providers with service-related enquiries and issue resolution.
  • Any additional tasks pertinent to the position, as deemed appropriate by management.

Current Opportunity: EAP Counsellor

Location: Ireland

Full-time/Part-time: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Salary: €35,200 - €38,720 plus competitive benefits offering

Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Hybrid or remote depending on your location

What you will do:

Our EAP Counsellors engage with participants over the phone, video, chat & email all while demonstrating what we call: The Power of a Good Conversation – creating a connection with the client to ensure they feel heard, supported, and cared for.

It’s difficult to define an “average day” for our counsellors, as every caller brings a unique set of experiences and challenges. Through thoughtful clinical conversations, our counsellors support each individual in exploring their situation and finding a path forward. Qualifications/Skills:

To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of a Level 4 diploma in Counselling.
  • Membershipof a regulatory counselling body (IACP/Other) and either full accreditation or working towards accreditation.
  • Experience using short-term counselling modalities such as Solution-Focused, CBT, Mindfulness, Integrative, Systemic counselling.
  • Training in crisis intervention and supporting high risk clients beneficial.
  • Passionate about providing support to clients from anywhere in the world.
  • Culturally sensitive to our clients and flexible using a telephonic interpreter as needed.
  • Competent in using our various methods of contact – telephone, video, email, text and live chat.
  • Ability to work with clients presenting with substance abuse, situations of crisis, mental health symptoms and/or family/relationship-related concerns impacting personal or work performance.
