Job description

Challenger Recruitment Partners is working with a growing international alternative investment management firm seeking a finance professional to join its Irish AIFM as Designated Person for Capital & Financial Management on a part-time basis.

This is an attractive opportunity for an experienced Designated Person, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant seeking a flexible role that combines meaningful regulatory responsibility, governance exposure, and professional development.

The Opportunity

Our client is an independent, internationally focused investment management business with operations across several European jurisdictions and a growing presence in Ireland.

The firm specialises in alternative investments, with a particular focus on private markets, and is continuing to develop its Irish AIFM. Working closely with the Irish CEO, Board and Group Finance team, the successful candidate will provide oversight of capital and financial management activities, ensuring appropriate governance, regulatory compliance and financial reporting.

This is an oversight and governance-focused appointment rather than a hands-on Financial Controller or operational finance management role, with day-to-day accounting and finance activities supported by the wider Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the capital adequacy requirements of the Irish AIFM, including regulatory capital monitoring and associated assessments.
  • Provide governance and oversight of financial statements, management company accounts, audit processes and financial reporting obligations.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of relevant regulatory and financial returns.
  • Prepare and present updates to the Board on capital and financial management matters, including any material issues requiring escalation.
  • Liaise with the Irish CEO, Group Finance team and relevant service providers to ensure appropriate financial governance and oversight.
  • Support financial oversight requirements associated with new fund launches and the continued development of the Irish platform.
Candidate Profile
  • Strong experience in finance management, fund accounting, financial reporting or financial oversight, ideally gained within funds, asset management or a regulated financial services environment.
  • A good understanding of financial statements, accounting processes, financial governance and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory capital requirements and the Irish regulatory environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior management and Board representatives.

Previous Designated Person experience is not essential. This opportunity could suit an experienced Finance Manager, Financial Reporting Manager, or Senior Financial Accountant looking to step into a DP/PCF-level position, as well as an existing Designated Person seeking a more flexible, part-time arrangement.
