Job summary

Grant Thornton Ireland is recruiting a senior project leader (Associate Director/Director) to lead large-scale utilities transformation and delivery programmes. The role focuses on strategic leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement across water, electricity and gas sectors.

You will drive complex programmes, mentor cross-functional teams, and shape innovative outcomes that deliver lasting business value for utility clients in Ireland and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field; Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, APM) strongly preferred.
• 8+ years' experience for Associate Director level, or 10+ years' experience for Director level, leading large-scale projects and programmes within the utilities sector, with a proven track record of leading complex, enterprise-scale initiatives and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership in delivering complex utilities sector projects and programmes, ensuring high-quality outputs and meeting tight deadlines.
• Define and drive projects across all stages of the project life cycle, from initiation to implementation and evaluation.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration across client organisations, delivery partners, regulators and stakeholders.
• Develop robust project governance frameworks, delivery plans, risk management approaches and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Provide strategic advice to utilities clients on major transformation initiatives, including digital transformation and operational excellence.
• Lead assessment of procurement and delivery models for capital, operational and transformation programmes.
• Combine data-driven analysis with industry insight to translate findings into practical recommendations.
