Job summary

Canonical is hiring for a senior Talent Science role with a distributed, globally remote team. You will lead a team focused on designing and delivering the talent roadmap, linking hiring outcomes to selection methods, and developing scalable processes and training materials.

Ideal candidates will have 7+ years in Talent analytics, proficiency in SQL or Python/R/SPSS, and experience guiding teams to execution while collaborating with senior leadership.

• 7+ years experience in a Talent function with analytics-driven decision making.
• Ability to dissect and analyse data using SQL (or Python/R/SPSS) and run lookups/matching.
• Experience with BI tools; Superset is mentioned as platform.
• Proven track record leading roadmaps and coaching teams to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to deliver against strategic objectives, focusing on product design and roadmap implementation.
• Crack the code on hiring by mapping performance outcomes to selection methods.
• Design professional processes and frameworks for efficient delivery of the agenda.
• Coach and mentor team members, develop training materials and documentation.
• Represent and drive the team in the Head of’s absence as a trusted adviser.
• Collaborate with company leaders to communicate Canonical’s talent vision.

These are remote based positions that are available across the globe.

The role entails

• Leading a team to deliver against a set of strategic objectives, with focus on product design and implementation of our roadmap.
• Cracking the code on hiring, connecting performance outcomes back to selection methods to ensure we identify and progress exceptional talent.
• Designing professional processes and frameworks, allowing efficient delivery of our agenda.
• Coaching and mentoring team members to grow and develop skill sets specifically around analytical capabilities and thought leadership, developing training materials and documentation to support team members.
• Driving and representing the team in the absence of the Head of, acting as a credible and trusted adviser and an inspiring leader.
• Working closely with company leaders to understand, appreciate and communicate our vision for talent at Canonical.

What we are looking for in you

• Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in a people based subject.
• 7+ years experience in a Talent function, with a deep appreciation of recruitment and selection and analytics that drive decision making.
• Proven analytical ability to dissect and analyse data using SQL. Alternatively use Python, R, SPSS, or, possess the ability to run lookups, indexing, matching formulae with an appetite to learn SQL.
• Exposure to BI tools (Superset is our platform).
• Exemplary ability to lead and drive others to deliver, including exceptional project management and coaching to lead roadmap execution and delivery.
• Exceptional written and spoken English with strong presentation skills for a senior audience.
• Sincere personal motivation aligned with our mission.
• International travel 2-4 times a year for company events up to two weeks long.
