Job summary

McKesson seeks a strategic Director of Information Protection to lead enterprise-wide data protection initiatives that safeguard sensitive healthcare data. You will define and execute the data protection strategy across cloud, endpoints, email, and collaboration platforms, partnering with Cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, IT and business teams.

You will drive governance, risk metrics, and reporting while translating regulatory requirements into scalable security controls.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, data protection or governance programs.
• Proven experience designing and scaling DLP across cloud, endpoint, email and collaboration.
• Hands-on expertise in data classification, retention and encryption strategies.
• Experience protecting PHI/PII and regulated data; translating regulatory requirements into controls.
• Strong executive communication, strategic planning and leadership capabilities.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Master’s preferred for leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enterprise-wide data protection and DLP strategies aligned with business goals.
• Design, implement, and scale DLP programs across cloud, endpoint, email and collaboration platforms.
• Establish data classification, retention, encryption, and information governance across data lifecycle.
• Translate HIPAA and privacy requirements into sustainable security controls and governance.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with Cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, IT and business stakeholders.
• Define governance standards, metrics, risk indicators and compliance reporting for data protection.
• Drive continuous improvement via analytics, automation, and emerging security technologies.
• Lead planning, budget management, vendor relationships, and talent development for multiple teams.
