Diesel Fitter / Generator Maintenance Technician

Role Overview
Crewit Resourcing is seeking a Diesel Fitter to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, and fault diagnosis of diesel generators and construction plant equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and uptime for customers and company operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on diesel generators.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and hydraulic system faults.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections according to manufacturer specifications.
- Carry out emergency breakdown repairs both in the workshop and on customer sites.
- Install, commission, and test generators and associated equipment.
- Complete service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Liaise professionally with customers regarding maintenance requirements and repairs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Participate in an on-call rota when required.
Requirements
- Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, Plant Fitter, Heavy Equipment Technician, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience servicing and repairing diesel engines and generators.
- Strong fault-finding skills on diesel fuel systems, electrical systems, and engine controls.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with construction plant and equipment.
- Knowledge of generator brands such as Cummins, Perkins, FG Wilson, CAT, Volvo Penta, or similar.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience including ATS panels and control systems.
- Safe Pass, Manual Handling, or relevant Irish site certifications.
- Experience with mobile field service work.
