Job summary

PE Global are working with a leading tier 1 Building and Fit Out contractor in Dublin to hire a Design Manager for three major residential developments. You will focus on a single project, coordinating architects, engineers and subcontractors to deliver design on time and within budget.

The role requires a degree in engineering or construction management, with postgraduate qualifications and Engineers Ireland membership desirable. An attractive rewards package accompanies the role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process across disciplines (architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors).
• Review and monitor design programmes to ensure on-time deliverables.
• Chair and coordinate design team meetings and track actions.
• Review drawings and specs for compliance with project requirements and regulations.
• Identify design risks and develop practical solutions with the team.
• Liaise with Project Manager, site teams and commercial teams to align design with construction.
• Coordinate flow of technical information between consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Manage RFIs, technical queries and design changes with clear documentation.
• Assist with value engineering to improve cost efficiency while maintaining quality.
• Support procurement of subcontractors and packages in line with design intent.
• Ensure design documentation is fully coordinated prior to construction.
• Maintain records of design decisions, approvals and revisions.
• Collaborate with client and stakeholders to meet objectives and milestones.

PE Global are delighted to be working with a very good client of ours who are a leading tier 1 Building and Fit Out contractor, head office based in Dublin 17. We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their expanding team for three large scale residential developments in Dublin. Projects are located in D3, D17 and D9. You’ll be based on one project solely, not moving between multiple sites. Please highlight preferences of location.

Reporting to the Project Manager:

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple disciplines including architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Review and monitor design programmes to ensure design deliverables are issued on time to support procurement and construction schedules.
• Chair and coordinate design team meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and design queries are resolved in a timely manner.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements, building regulations and client specifications.
• Identify and manage design risks and buildability issues early in the project lifecycle and work with the project team to develop practical solutions.
• Liaise closely with the Project Manager, site management teams and commercial teams to ensure design information supports construction activities.
• Coordinate the flow of technical information between consultants, subcontractors and internal project stakeholders.
• Manage and track RFIs, technical queries and design changes, ensuring clear documentation and communication.
• Assist with the value engineering process, identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency while maintaining design quality and performance.
• Support the procurement of subcontractors and specialist packages by reviewing technical proposals and ensuring alignment with design intent.
• Ensure design documentation is fully coordinated prior to construction, reducing clashes and delays on site.
• Maintain clear records of design decisions, approvals and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work collaboratively with the client and stakeholders to ensure the design meets project objectives, programme milestones and quality expectations.

Requirements:

Candidates should have a degree level qualification in engineering, construction management or related subject, while post graduate qualifications and/or membership of a relevant professional institute such as Engineers Ireland is desirable.
