Job summary

Mercury Engineering seeks a Fire Protection Design Engineer to lead design and layout of fire protection systems for complex projects in Ireland and across Europe. You will perform hydraulic calculations, 3D BIM coordination, and produce detailed schematics using Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Proficient communication and written English.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering plans, schematics, and drawings.
• Must be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD with 4+ years modelling complex systems.
• Experience with large mechanical or fire protection projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout of fire protection systems to LPC/NFPA/FM/VdS criteria.
• Handle sprinkler design including hydraulic calculations and 3D model coordination.
• Prepare 2D block plans and schematics for tenders and construction.
• Produce detailed fire protection schematics such as sprinkler, foam, gas and water mist systems.
• Coordinate with client teams and other disciplines; create installation drawings.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

• Design and layout of fire protection systems to meet LPC/NFPA/FM/VdScriteria.
• Responsible for all aspects of sprinkler design, including hydraulic calculations, shop drawing preparation,3Dmodelco-ordination with other services.
• Preparation of project deliverables to include 2d fire classificationblockplansand schematics.
• Review and production of detailed fire protection Schematics such as Fire Sprinkler Protection, Foam enhanced Fire Protection, Gas Protection, Firewater Mist Protection, Inert Gas Protection & Special Hazard Fire Protection
• Liaise and co-ordinate with members of the client’s team.
• Creation of installation/construction & fabrication drawings.
• Attend technical / project meetingsin person andviateamscalls.
• Assistwith the preparation of technical documentation for issue of tenders and construction.
• Close out of all project items
• Review any lessons learned.
• Skills with AutoCAD, Revit and3Drelatedhydraulicsoftware
• Should be able to work with other disciplines and work collaboratively with other designers, engineers and architects and clients to convert information into layout designs, drawings and models using REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Decipher information received from various formats (sketches, BIM Execution Plans, Architectural drawings)
• Demonstrate strong understanding and experience in delivering LOD 200 to 400 BIM model using BIM Software

Essential Criteria for the Role:

• Proficient at communication& writtenEnglish.
• Competent working knowledge of applicable standards
• Ability to read and effectively interpret architectural/engineering plans, schematics, design drawings, etc.
• Must beproficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, 2D AutoCAD and Revit MEP design software such asAutoSPRINKor similar software with a minimum of fouryears of experience modelling these systems.
• Ability to extract BOQs and fabrication drawings from Revit.
• Must be responsible, pay attention to detail personable, data-driven, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with solid organisation and time management skills that lead totimelycompletion of projects
• Experience in working on large commercial fire protection systems
• Management of Project Schedule.
• Must be capable of performing Clash detection using Navisworks and Revit interference check, export Clash reports, review clash reports etc.
• Knowledge ofAutodesk ACC or similarwill be an added advantage
• Previousexperience using programmes such as Revit /Autosprink/ Navisworks
• Some experience of working on a construction site will beadvantageoushowever not mandatory.
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineeringwould be advantage.
• Previousexperience working for large mechanical or fire protection company would be an advantage.
• Experience in working on European projects.
• Ability to travel. Full EU driving licenserequired.
