Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Design and BCAR Coordinator to join our project in Carlow, Ireland. The role involves coordinating design development from concept through construction and managing submittals and interfaces with M&E, structural, and architectural teams.

You will chair design team meetings, oversee façade design, and ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations and BCAR. Strong IT and CAD skills are essential, with on-site collaboration on dynamic projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing design teams in regulated construction environments.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong IT and software literacy including Microsoft 365 and CAD tools.
  • Experience coordinating design development from concept to construction.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor design development from concept through to construction stages.
  • Chair and manage design team meetings.
  • Oversee design of façade systems from early concepts to construction details.
  • Review and manage information flow through Autodesk platforms.
  • Coordinate with M&E, structural, and architectural designers to resolve clashes early.
  • Track and manage submittals, RFIs, and approvals to align with project programme.
  • Coordinate mock-ups, sample panels, and material selections with architects and client teams.

At BAM we are looking for Design and BCAR Coordinator to join our Project in Carlow.

Making Possible
  • Engage in a purposeful and well organised manner with BAM’s Design & Build (D+B) Design Team (DT) and other team member.
  • Complete and issue MTS’s (“RDD”) to the client (Department of Education) TA’s / MDTT (Technical Assessors / Multi Disciplinary Technical Team).
  • Ensure all MTS / TS are in compliance with the GWR, SSWR and contract documents.
  • Oversee the D+B DT’s issuance of Design Submissions (DS’s) and Designer Checklists to the TA/MDTT via the Autodesk (ACC) CDE.
  • Manage and attend site Benchmark Mockups / FoK’s (First of a Kind). Record the FoK along with signed attendance sheet and photos. Complete the FoK record report and upload to the CDE.
  • Ensure MTS from subcontractors/supplier have the correct up to date documents such as DOPs / CE markings etc.
  • Complete design section of the bi-weekly Contractors Progress reports such as DS’s MTS, RFIs etc.
  • Coordinate and monitor design development from concept through to construction stages.
  • Chair and manage design team meetings.
  • Oversee design of façade systems (curtain walling, cladding, glazing, brickwork etc.) from early-stage concepts to construction details.
  • Review and manage the flow of information through Autodesk software platforms.
  • Coordinate with M&E, structural, and architectural designers to resolve clashes or technical issues early.
  • Track and manage design submittals, RFIs, and approvals to align with the project programme.
  • Coordinate mock-ups, sample panels, and material selections with architects and client teams.
  • Strong understanding of Irish Building Regulations, BCAR, and relevant façade standards.

Desirable
  • Prior on site experience in Design Management, Site Management or Project.
  • Management, or experience working as a site / senior engineer status, with an engineering degree qualification.
  • Previous experience working on medium to large construction projects.
  • Awareness of construction methodologies.
  • Use of web-based contract communication tools.
  • Safe Pass card holder and Manual Handling training.
