Job summary

Galway Clinic seeks an experienced Radiotherapy staff member to provide patient-focused care across the radiotherapy department. The role involves rotating through Linear Accelerators, CT Simulation, chart preparation and dosimetry, with on-call duties as needed.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy with CORU registration and have strong clinical and customer care skills, plus the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy or Recognized equivalent qualification.
• CORU registration.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Proven clinical and customer care skills.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with both clinical and admin staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient and effective service to patients; rotate through radiotherapy department areas (Linear Accelerators, CT Simulation, Chart Preparation, Dosimetry).
• Contribute to on-call coverage as required.
• Perform daily quality assurance and calibration.
• Maintain and develop the department's quality assurance program.
• Keep accurate clinical data records and adhere to hospital policies.
• Stay updated on clinical, technical and radiotherapy developments.
• Ensure radiation protection standards are followed.

The above basic grade position has become available within the Radiotherapy Department, Galway Clinic. This is a permanent full-time post, 35 hours per week.

The role:

• Provision of an efficient and effective service to patients.This position will require staff to rotate through the various areas of the radiotherapy department incorporating Linear Accelerators, CT Simulation, Chart Preparation and Dosimetry.Staff Radiation Therapists should also be available for any on-call services as required.
• Quality assurance and calibration on a daily basis as required.
• Development and maintenance of the quality assurance program for the department.
• Maintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with department and hospital policies.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical and radiotherapy developments to promote awareness and ensure best practices are implemented and maintained.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction and down time.
• Ensure all radiation protection standards are adhered to.

The Candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy or Recognized equivalent qualification.
• CORU registration
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Have proven Clinical & Customer Care skills.
• Ability to work comfortably in multi-disciplinary teams, working closely with both clinical and administrative staff.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
• Flexibility in work practices.
