Job summary

FRS Recruitment seeks a compassionate Deputy Person in Charge to join a new intellectual disability service in Laois. This is a leadership role in a residential setting, overseeing governance, staff development and on-call coverage to ensure high standards of care.

You will assist the Person in Charge, lead teams, and ensure the safety and rights of residents. Garda Vetting and references apply; Level 8 in Social Care and CORU registration are essential.

Qualifications

• A Level 8 qualification in Social Care and CORU registration.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Experience maintaining a safe, hygienic residential environment in line with H&S.
• Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
• Experience rotas across day/evening/night shifts.
• Knowledge of HIQA regulations and inspections.
• Full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Person in Charge with service oversight and decision-making during absences.
• Support governance meetings, audits, inspections and action planning.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and feedback to staff teams.
• Support staff development and ensure high-quality professional practice.
• Promote a positive, accountable team culture aligned with values.
• Participate in staff supervision, probation reviews and appraisals.
• Contribute to development and review of Person-centred Support and Care Plans.
• Ensure residents' rights and individual needs are central to planning and delivery.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rota for management oversight.
