COPE Galway is seeking a reliable Delivery Driver/Storeroom Assistant for a fixed term, part-time contract (three days per week) at our charity shops in Galway (Newtownsmith & St Augustine Street).

You will drive deliveries, assist with loading/unloading large items, organise the storeroom, supervise volunteers, and support shop staff to keep operations running smoothly. A full clean driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Holds a full, clean driving licence.
• Experience driving large vehicles is desirable.
• Physically fit and able to handle manual handling.
• Practical, hands-on and able to use basic tools.
• Good organisational skills and a proactive approach.
• Friendly, helpful attitude with customers and donors.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible schedule including occasional Saturdays.

Responsabilités

The Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable, practical and hardworking individual to join our team as a Furniture Delivery Driver and Storeroom Operative.

The successful candidate would be responsible for assisting with the collection and delivery of donated and purchased furniture, including driving our delivery van and handling large, heavy items as part of a team. The role will also involve organizing and maintaining the furniture storeroom, ensuring it remains safe, tidy and efficiently managed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive and assist with furniture deliveries and collections, providing a friendly and professional service to both customers and donors.
• Safely load, unload and move furniture, including large, heavy, and awkward items.
• Organize, maintain and maximize the use of space within the furniture storeroom.
• Assist with assembling, disassembling, cleaning, and minor repairs to furniture as required.
• Provide supervision to volunteers working on the delivery van and in the furniture storeroom.
• Ensure furniture is stored, handled, and transported safely.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Work collaboratively with shop staff and volunteers to support the smooth running of furniture operations.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds a full, clean driving licence.
• Has experience driving large vehicles.
• Is physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and moving heavy items.
• Is practical, hands-on and confident using basic tools.
• Has good organizational skills and a proactive approach to work.
• Has a friendly and helpful attitude when dealing with customers, donors, and colleagues.
• Can work independently as well as part of a team.
• Is available to work a flexible schedule when required, including the occasional Saturday.

Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or similar roles would be an advantage.
