Role Overview

In this role, you will support and enhance automation systems that drive equipment performance, data analysis, and process optimization across defect metrology and related semiconductor manufacturing systems. You will apply software and data engineering skills to build scalable automation solutions, improve system reliability, and enable faster, more robust decision-making through better data integration, analysis, and deployment practices.

You will work closely with various teams to troubleshoot complex system issues, develop automation frameworks, and implement solutions that improve tool performance, reduce variation, and prevent recurrence. This role also involves supporting sustaining, and innovation activities, with a strong focus on software-enabled process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions that support equipment performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
  • Develop scalable software tools and scripts, primarily using Python, to automate data extraction, validation, analysis, and reporting workflows.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to access, transform, and analyze data from manufacturing and equipment systems.
  • Support cloud-based application development and deployment for automation and analytics solutions.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub to improve software quality, version control, testing, and deployment efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment and software-related issues, develop sustainable solutions, and implement strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead equipment and automation improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams to enhance operational performance of DefMet systems.
  • Identify innovative automation solutions to equipment challenges and influence stakeholders to drive and implement change.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and IT teams to improve automation architecture, data flow, and system reliability.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Level 8 degree (NFQ) or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline, such as Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, Nanotechnology, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • 4+ years of experience in an engineering, automation, equipment, data, or software-enabled manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Practical experience with Python for automation, data processing, or engineering analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, validation, and analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as JMP, Python-based libraries, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based development and deployment environments.
  • Experience using GitHub for version control and CI/CD workflows.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with a high level of ownership and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork skills and experience working in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or related high-tech industries.
  • Experience with yield analysis, defect reduction methodologies, and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with equipment automation systems, industrial software, or manufacturing data platforms.
  • Exposure to cloud-native application development, APIs, or automated deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques for predictive maintenance or defect classification.
  • Experience with computer vision or image analysis tools relevant to defect detection.
