Wages: $17.69/hr.
Hours: Afternoon (7:45AM to 12:15PM)

Position Open from June 8th thru July 31st

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist students with personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and safety issues.
  • Provide general/emergent care to students as directed by the Registered Nurse and building administration.
  • Prepare and administer medication as directed by the student's physician.
  • Monitor students for allergic reactions and follow individual health care plans or district procedures.
  • Respond to health-related phone calls and parent questions.
  • Monitor and check for head lice when required.
  • Prepare and monitor health records.
  • Maintain daily medication administration and daily nursing office visits in Infinite Campus.
  • Correspond with parents when appropriate.
  • Complete staff/student injury forms as needed.
  • Perform other service or clerical duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse or school administrator(s).
  • Must be willing to attend trainings and complete trainings to assume the duties and responsibilities of the position yearly.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may include catheterization, tube feeding, use of electronic blood pressure equipment, use of a pulse oximeter, use of a peak flow meter and provide care to students needing medication such as diastatic, intranasal versed, glucagon, insulin, and epi-pen.
  • Must hold the Infant/Child/Adult CPR certificate prior to start date and remain current.
  • Must hold a Mandatory Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate prior to start date and remain current.
  • Per DHS Guidelines this Children's Village position requires a background check every two (2) years, FBI fingerprinting check every four (4) years, and completed Physical every three (3) years.
  • Must complete Universal Precaution and Exposure Training prior to start date and remain current.
  • Must be willing to complete the training and obtain the Medication Administration Certificate and remain current.
  • Must be willing to work with a diverse population and treat all with dignity and respect.
  • Recognition of the need for confidentiality with respect to children's and parent's right to privacy.
  • Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
Physical Requirements of Position
  • Ability to routinely lift/carry office supplies and printed materials weighing up to 25lbs, occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person and/ or on the telephone.
  • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person and/ or on the telephone.
  • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, and other office equipment with dexterity and in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to withstand weather for outside activities.
