Job summary

Sharp Brains is seeking a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to support rack/stack, provisioning, testing, and maintenance across enterprise IT environments. You will work with OTDR/LSPM/BER/OSA fiber tools, configure basic network and storage components, and document activities in the ticketing system.

Linux/CLI proficiency and experience with low-voltage power systems are essential. Responsibilities include patching, labeling, and asset tagging, plus coordinating with stakeholders for

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of Data center infrastructure or enterprise IT infrastructure experience.
• 3+ years provisioning, troubleshooting and testing servers in data center environments; Linux/CLI proficiency.
• 3+ years fiber cabling and testing with OTDR/LSPM/BER/OSA; power and ethernet cabling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support rack and stack and patching; asset tagging and labeling.
• Update IT ticketing systems and coordinate with stakeholders on attendance.
• Install, test, and document network and storage components; assist with fault diagnosis.
• Perform routine maintenance and circuit migrations; remote/system access configuration.

Job description

• OTDR, LSPM, BER, OSA (Optical Spectrum Analysis) & other fiber testing/cleaning tools (testing, configuration, reporting), provisioning, install cables or optics for new circuits. physical cabling, cable management, northbound cabling, (Fiber/Copper/Power).
• Support network and server teams by assisting with rack and stack and running cables. Planned/Predictive maintenance or circuit migration support.
• Labelling, patching, and asset tagging activities, perform installation as needed either through physical or network medium.
• Updating and recording of activities in relevant IT Ticket management system, coordinating and agreeing attendance time and date with key stakeholders.

Break Fix/Technical Task List :

• Testing of fiber, high loss/break fiber Identification by OTDR/LSPM/VFL. Cleaning fibers, replace the faulty optical cable. Installing loop backs, Optical Spectrum Analysis, BER testing/MPO fiber testing etc.
• Inserting/removing media, replacing defective components, assist with fault diagnosis and investigation with RMA Processing.
• Configuring remote access, basic storage array configuration, replacing faulty cables.
• Rebooting routers, servers, storage devices or other equipment, tape management and Maintenance
• Providing loop-back cables to test circuits remotely, re-seating or replacing components or cables
• Power cycling, running diagnostics commands, conducting whole unit replacement.

Work Experience:

• Years - 5-8 years of Data center infrastructure, enterprise IT infrastructure or equivalent.
• Years - 3+ Years of experience in Server provisioning, troubleshooting and testing. Must be proficient in Linux/CLI interfaces. (HP, Dell, IBM)
• Years - 3+ Years of experience in fiber cabling, and testing of Optical fiber cable by OTDR, LSPM, and other fiber test tool, BER test, OSA(Optical Spectrum Analysis), Traffic detector, installation, configuration and troubleshooting of low-voltage electrical system “AC”)/(“DC”) power, ethernet cabling.
